Irv Smith Jr. 2020 Outlook: Enhanced Role Expected
5 years agoMinnesota Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. out of Alabama finished his rookie season in 2019 with 36 catches for 311 yards and two touchdowns. While those numbers aren't eye-popping, the 21-year-old has been highly touted and is expected to see some progression in his second year. Kyle Rudolph will likely be listed officially as the No. 1 option on the team's depth chart once again, but with his career in Minnesota potentially coming to a close at the end of 2020, Smith may become more involved, primarily on the receiving end, especially after the team dealt wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. Don't bother reaching for him as he may go undrafted in a good amount of fantasy leagues, but if you have a spot on your roster, more so in dynasty formats, he is worth an add as a late-round flier.
