Ian Kennedy Continues To Baffle
7 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Ian Kennedy only allowed one run through six innings on Thursday against the Angels, and that helped bring his ERA to a paltry 1.00 through three starts this season. He only has one win to show for the effort, but he has no power over his offense's performance. The good news is that his strikeout rate is up at 8.00 per nine innings, which helps indicate future success. The bad news is that his ERA is being buoyed by a ridiculous 96.6 percent strand rate. To say that's unsustainable is putting it mildly. Kennedy's best season-long rate in his career has been 83 percent and his career average is 74 percent, so owners should be wary that some of these runners will be coming around to score soon. It has been a nice start for the veteran, though.
