3/19:Howie Kendrick arrived in Philadelphia this spring in the aftermath of the worst season of his career. Now 33 years old, there’s a definite case to be made that Kendrick is on the decline, but he looked for a fresh start with the Phillies. So far this spring, however, things are not looking up for the longtime member of the Angels. Through 45 plate appearances, he’s hitting a disappointing .178 with just two extra base hits and 10 strikeouts. Looking forward, his numbers don’t have to dramatically improve in order to earn a starting role, but better appearances at the plate are necessary. If not, Kendrick could be looking at the most reduced role he’s had on a baseball roster in quite some time.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller
