1 year agoHideki Matsuyama started his 2018 U.S. Open bid in dismay with a five-over par 75, which included four bogeys and a double-bogey. Friday saw Matsuyama produce an even-par 70 and followed that up on Saturday with a heartbreaking nine-over par 79. Matsuyama started his final-round charge at one-over through the first two holes, then with a flourish of birdies he carded a 31 on the outward nine. He coasted home at even-par on the back nine to finish T16 with a final-round 66. While Matsuyama did not win the U.S. Open, he can still take away the fact that he was third in scrambling at 57.14 percent and sixth in strokes gained off the tee at 3.202. Matsuyama is ranked 12th in the Official World Golf Rankings and has a scoring average of 70.633.--Todd Dorsa - RotoBaller
