Hakeem Butler 2019 Player Outlook: More Decoy than Deep Threat
6 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals selected Hakeem Butler on day three of this year's draft to fit in as the big, outside receiver for new head coach, Kliff Kingsbury's air raid system. The Cardinals are likely to lineup up with four WR fairly often and although there are question marks around Butler's ability to run routes and get off the line of scrimmage, he should be a threat downfield when he does create separation with his uncommon mix of size and speed. Butler is a very raw prospect who was a late bloomer due to certain family circumstances throughout high school. He might not be a starter in 2019 but will have opportunities to shine alongside a mostly young WR room and with new QB Kyler Murray. He is not someone to draft too early this season but could be worth grabbing off of the waiver wire if he is dropped after the first few weeks.
