Gus Edwards 2020 Outlook: A Handcuff At Best
5 years agoBaltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards had a decent 2019 season, finishing the year with 711 yards and two scores on 133 attempts. While those numbers aren't exactly eye-popping, they hold up considering the combination of Mark Ingram II and quarterback Lamar Jackson received considerably more. With Greg Roman still calling the shots on offense, you can be assured that the Ravens will continue to run the ball often, giving Edwards some room to get some attention in 2020. There is bad news for him, however, as the team selected Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins in the 2020 NFL Draft. Executive vice president Eric DeCosta also indicated that the foursome of Ingram, Dobbins, Edwards, and Justice Hill would serve as a "four-headed" monster out of the backfield, an unwelcoming revelation not only for Edwards but for the rest of the group as a whole in terms of fantasy productivity. Ingram will likely see a decrease in work in 2020 to integrate Dobbins into the mix, and Edwards will also likely be in the same boat, making him an unreliable handcuff at best.
