Gordon Hayward 2018-19 Player Outlook
6 years agoBoston Celtics small forward Gordon Hayward enters the season with recovery still on his mind. Hayward has progressed to sprinting and dunking now that he is almost one year removed from the gruesome leg injury suffered on opening night last season. The Celtics expect Hayward to be ready for training camp and be ready for opening night. Hayward is just one year removed from his first All-Star appearance when he averaged 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the Utah Jazz over the 2016-2017 season. Hayward is surrounded by immense talent in teammates Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, and Al Horford so he might need some time to develop chemistry and confidence in his leg again. We have seen players like Paul George recover mentally and physically so it is not out of the question for Hayward to return to form this season. However, temper expectations and stay diligent on injury updates for Hayward as the season nears.
