Gerald Everett 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Solid TE2 Option Following Career Year
2 years agoIn his first season with the Los Angeles Chargers, tight end Gerald Everett exceeded expectations. He had career-highs in targets (87), receptions (58), and receiving yards (555). Everett also put together his best fantasy season, finishing as the TE13 with 139.5 PPR fantasy points. The 28-year-old tight end benefited from both wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams missing four-plus games last season. However, with both star wideouts healthy heading into the year and the addition of first-round pick Quentin Johnston, fewer targets will go to Everett in 2023. The tight end should still see opportunities in a high-scoring offense in Los Angeles. Justin Herbert looked Everett's way 17 times in the red zone last season, which could help his fantasy upside at a weak position group this season. The Chargers didn't add a tight end during free agency or the draft, so Everett should continue to see opportunities in the offense. He'll be a reliable backup fantasy tight end option in 10-12 team leagues and a solid late-round TE1 option in deeper formats. He's ranked 144th overall and TE16 in the latest RotoBaller rankings.
