Gavin Cecchini Not Likely To Be Fantasy Relevant In 2018
7 years agoIt feels like we’ve been hearing New York Mets shortstop/second baseman Gavin Cecchini’s name for the longest time without any real results from it, and that trend is likely to continue in 2018. The Mets’ first round draft pick in 2012 never really lit up the minors too much outside of a couple years with a high batting average and OBP, and doesn’t seem close to doing much of anything in the Majors either. His Major League experience has been limited, only 82 plate appearances last year in his first real experience, and unless he steps up chances are he won’t see much playing time in 2018, either. The Mets don’t currently have an everyday second basemen, but Cecchini doesn’t seem to be in the discussion as an option. If he does make the team and get on the field, in his best days he’s not going to do much except boost your averages a bit. Cecchini isn’t worth a draft pick in nearly any format.
