Cordarrelle Patterson 2019 Player Outlook: A Fantasy Gamble
5 years agoChicago Bears wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson enters his seventh season as a player with loads of talent but will be playing for his fourth team. Highly-touted out of college, Patterson's route running has limited his ability to ascend to elite wide receiver status. He did, however, find a serviceable role as a gadget player for the Super Bowl winning Patriots last season. Patterson totaled five touchdowns (one kick return, one rushing, three passing) and was used out of the backfield to surprising success. He now comes into a Bears offense that used multiple 'Big' formations in the red zone last season. Patterson will not garner the amount of touches that will make him fantasy viable but could be heavily involved in the Bears red zone offense. He is also dangerous returning kicks, an added bonus in fantasy leagues that count for touchdowns on special teams. Patterson is a positive addition to the Bears offensive scheme but figures to be, at best, a fringe fantasy option heading into the season.
