Ezekiel Elliott 2024 Outlook: The Cowboys Will Keep Him Well-Fed
7 months agoOne of the most prolific runners in Cowboys' history makes his return to Big D. Ezekiel Elliott rejoins the team after being cast aside for Tony Pollard and spending a season in New England. The Cowboys let Pollard walk this offseason and didn't select a running back in the NFL Draft. With Rico Dowdle atop the depth chart, Jerry Jones and Co. were nearly forced into reuniting with Elliott. While they may feed Zeke again, don't expect anywhere near the same level of efficiency that he showed in his younger days. Elliott noticeably lost a step, averaging 3.5 yards per carry with the Patriots while logging one breakaway run. His work in the passing game made him fantasy-relevant in 2023. Still, he's rejoining one of the best offenses in football and should get plenty of opportunities. Pollard logged the seventh most carries in football last season. While Pollard disappointed fantasy managers based on his draft cost, he still finished as the RB14. Elliott won't cost nearly as much in 2024. If he's getting the majority of the backfield touches (60-70%), he'll be at least a flex candidate every week.
