Ezekiel Elliott 2018 Outlook: The Next Fantasy MVP
6 years agoLast season was tough on Ezekiel Elliott owners, who had no idea if or when Elliott would be suspended. Even though he should have been a top-five pick, he dropped on draft boards. He was going to either be a great value or a disappointment.
Elliott had a great start to the season, averaging 22.1 fantasy points per game from Week 1 through Week 8 before serving a six-game suspension. The Cowboys offense runs through Elliott, and even though he missed six games last season, he was still sixth in the NFL with 40 carries in the Red Zone.
This year, the Cowboys have expressed a desire to get Elliott more involved in the passing game. The Cowboys receivers will be just good enough to keep defenses from stacking the box and Dak Prescott should be somewhere between his 2016 and 2017 season. We could be in for a special year from Elliott, with a full complement of games and a boost in numbers across the board. Elliott is a great candidate to be the top fantasy scorer by season's end and is worth the top overall pick, even in PPR leagues.
