Evan Engram 2020 Outlook: A Top Talent If/When Healthy
5 years agoNew York Giants tight end Evan Engram is perhaps the most talented pass-catcher in New York City, but he is also the most injury-prone. In 2019, Engram was on pace for 88 catches, 934 receiving yards, and six touchdowns had he stayed healthy. Had the former Mississippi Rebel maintained that pace, he would have finished as fantasy’s TE5 in standard formats (just 8.1 points behind George Kittle at TE3) and as TE4 in PPR scoring (only 5.1 points behind Kittle for TE2). That sort of tight end ceiling is rare in fantasy, and it will always keep Engram on the radar of fantasy owners who pass on Kittle and Travis Kelce early. The problem is that Engram can’t be counted on to maintain this pace, considering that he has missed 14 games in his three year NFL career. Injuries will always drop his fantasy value until he proves he can stay healthy. With that said, Engram’s current ADP as the 87th overall selection bakes in his injury history. 87th overall is a lovely spot for the Giants’ tight end, considering his athletic ability and target share, especially if you have the bench space to handcuff him with Noah Fant or Hayden Hurst late in your draft.
