Ernesto Frieri and Dalier Hinojosa Struggle in Final Spring Tuneup
4/1:In the Phillies' final tuneup of spring training, right-handed relievers Ernesto Frieri and Dalier Hinojosa both struggled in their quest to be named the closer to start the season. Frieri only recorded one out, and allowed four runs on two home runs. He will finish camp with an ERA of 11.57. Hinojosa did not fare much better, giving up a home run along with three walks, allowing two runs while recording just two outs. One candidate that fared much better was veteran right-hander Andrew Bailey, who pitched two innings with a walk and a strikeout. The competition appears to be down to Bailey and fellow veteran David Hernandez. Hernandez is the odds-on favorite to win the job, but no announcement has been made. Avoid all of these pitchers on draft day, and keep them in mind as a waiver-wire pickup if your team needs saves.
