Eric Reid 2020 Outlook: Still Available Despite A Career Year In 2019
5 years agoEric Reid easily had his best season in 2019 with the Panthers, recording career highs in tackles (130), solo tackles (97), sacks (four) and tackles for loss (seven), while forcing a fumble and recovering two fumbles in 16 games. The tackles alone helped him finish as the No. 2 fantasy defensive back last year behind Logan Ryan. But Reid is no stranger to controversy thanks to his friendship with Colin Kaepernick, and he also allowed 77 percent of throws completed in his vicinity, per Pro Football Focus. He's still on the right side of 30 (29 in December), but Reid's baggage and subpar coverage skills are the reason he's still on the open market. Reid could land with a secondary needy team by the summer, but don't expect the kind of production he had last year, especially since his previous high in combined tackles was 77 back in his rookie season in 2013.
