Eric Ebron 2020 Outlook: A Possible TE Sleeper
5 years agoAfter having his best season in 2018, Eric Ebron had a down year in 2019 for the Colts by only hauling in 31 of 52 targets for 375 yards and three scores in just 11 games thanks to an ankle injury. Ebron has since moved on from the Colts and finds himself in Pittsburgh in an offense that loves using the tight end. In 2018, which was Ben Roethlisberger's last season under the helm, the Steelers targeted their top two tight ends (Vance McDonald and Jesse James) a combined 111 times, resulting in 80 receptions for 1,033 yards and six touchdowns. Ebron brings with him the skillset of a solid deep threat as noted by his 31 receptions of 20-plus yards over the previous five seasons. In 2019, he ranked in the top 21% of the league in terms of average depth of target and was also in the top two percent of the league in air yards per snap, both of which show his downfield ability. Big Ben will no doubt find this skillset useful in the Steelers offense in 2020. Ebron currently has an ADP of 204 and is being taken as the 28th tight end off the board. This means he is widely going undrafted, which could make him a nice sleeper target with the last pick in drafts.
