Devin White 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
2 years agoAfter an incredible fantasy season in 2020 that showed why Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White was the rare LB taken in the top-ten picks of the NFL Draft, the Bucs' star took a bit of a step back in 2021. While the LSU alum still put forward good tackle numbers and borderline elite solo tackle rates, his big-play production slipped significantly. The former Bayou Bengal saw his sack total drop 61% in 2021, his tackles for loss cut in half, and his forced turnover totals dry up to zero. Those dips are concerning for fantasy managers who drafted White like he could be a dynasty star, but there is a reason for hope. Despite seeing his sack rate plummet, White actually collected more QB hits and pressures in 2021 than he did in 2020. That and his positive PFF pass-rush grades suggest White could see positive regression in sacks this year. If White can turn pressures back into sacks while improving his run defense just nominally, he will again be a top-tier fantasy option.
