Devin Singletary 2019 Outlook: Big Opportunity Opens
6 years agoWith LeSean McCoy out of the way, the future could be now for Devin Singletary. The Buffalo Bills are preparing for the future, with Josh Allen at quarterback, and this means they need a young back to grow with him together. Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon are present, but that's about, as they won't be long-term threats to Singletary's role in the Bills offense.
With the Bills bringing in a whole new offensive line, the protection for the run game should be better. The full effect of Singletary's role won't be felt to mid-season, but if you drafted him, he will be useable. After mid-season? He could be one of those league-winning players who help you through the playoff push.
Mike Clay of ESPN has adjusted his projections to 13.7 touches per game for Singletary, which is great for someone drafted as your running back four or five in leagues. If the touches rise as the season goes on, you may have this season's James Connor, or maybe a better comp is 2018's late-in-the-season Derek Henry.
If you have not drafted yet, the price for Singletary will shoot through the roof these last few draft days. But he is still worth the higher price if you can snag him in the sixth or seventh round. Getting a talented young starter in an NFL backfield this late is just what the doctor ordered for fantasy owners who go zero-RB as well.
