Dede Westbrook 2019 Outlook: Third-Year Wideout Hopes To Ascend To No. 1 WR Role
6 years agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Dede Westbrook took a big step forward in 2018. After catching 27 passes for 339 yards and a touchdown in 2017, he improved to 66 catches for 717 yards and five touchdowns last season. Westbrook's efficiency has been poor over his two-year career as he has caught just 61.2% of his targets. Much of the blame can be placed on former quarterback Blake Bortles, who struggled with his accuracy during his tenure in Jacksonville. New quarterback Nick Foles will never be confused with Drew Brees from an accuracy standpoint, but he is a step up from what Bortles offered under center. Look for Westbrook to take a third-year leap this season, making him a prime target as a third or fourth wide receiver when constructing a fantasy roster. With a wide-open depth chart at the wide receiver position, the No. 1 role is there for the taking.
