De’Aaron Fox 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoSacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox improved his game immensely during his sophomore season last year, averaging 17.3 points and 7.3 assists per game (up from 11.6 and 4.4 as a rookie). He made great strides with his jump shot and took his defense to the next level as well, providing 1.6 steals per game in 2018-19. This year, don’t expect the improvements to be quite as drastic, but there should still be some room for growth for the talented 21-year-old. Last year, Fox played about 31 minutes per game, but this year, as the Kings should realistically contend for a playoff spot, Fox could see closer to 35 minutes per game. That playing time increase, as well as an extra year of seasoning, could allow Fox to hit that 20 points per game mark in 2019-20 and see increases across the rest of the stat line as well. Point guard is a loaded position both at the top and depth-wise, which doesn’t make Fox worthy of reaching for in drafts, but he is still worthy of a late third-round or early fourth-round pick.
