5/16:At this point, it’s easy to forget that New York Mets third baseman David Wright (back, shoulder) is still attempting to make a comeback. Wright is scheduled to visit a doctor for a follow-up exam at the end of May, and he’s hoping to be cleared for baseball activities upon the visit. In mid-March, Wright was shut down for roughly eight weeks due to the seemingly never-ending issues with his back and shoulder. He last played in 2016, when he only appeared in 37 games, which followed his 38-game (plus postseason) 2015. Even if Wright is cleared for baseball activities in a few weeks, the real test will come when he starts throwing and swinging. Odds remain astronomically high that Wright’s days of being a capable baseball player, nevertheless a force for fantasy purposes, are done.--John Smith
