2 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher David Phelps (elbow) played catch Sunday, and the team is hoping he can throw off a mound by the middle of next week. Phelps was put on the 10-day disabled list Aug. 7 with an elbow impingement, but he could return to the bullpen later this month. The right-hander was traded over from the Marlins at the deadline and has posted a 2.57 ERA with 11 strikeouts in seven innings with his new squad as the main setup man to closer Edwin Diaz. Phelps does have a nice 10.3 K/9 on the season as a whole, but he's merely a handcuff option in AL leagues to those that own Diaz.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
