2 years agoMiami reliever David Phelps has been acquired by the Mariners for four prospects, according to newstribune.com. The trade signals that the Mariners are going to try and make a push for the playoffs and the move bolsters their bullpen. Over the past two season Phelps has quietly been one of the best relievers in the game and has a 3.45 ERA this season with 51 strikeouts in 47 innings pitched. 2016 was an electric season for Phelps, posting a 2.28 ERA with 114 strikeouts in only 86 2/3 innings pitched. Pitching, especially the bullpen, has been a struggle this season for Seattle and if they have any hopes of making a playoff push a move to acquire a pitcher like Phelps was necessary.--Joey C - RotoBaller
