Davante Adams, 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Primed To Thrive As A Raider
3 years agoIt seemed reasonable to believe that wide receiver Davante Adams would return to the Packers for a ninth consecutive season in 2022. That would have kept him tethered to Aaron Rodgers whose frequent targets had propelled Adams to mammoth statistical success. Adams had averaged 154 targets (10.8 per game) from 2018-to 2021, and the five-time Pro-Bowler had capitalized on his usage by averaging 108 receptions (7.6 per game), 1,328 receiving yards (93.2 per game), and 12 touchdowns during that span. However, the 29-year-old Adams requested a trade to Las Vegas in March. This will reunite him with college teammate Derek Carr, who connected with Adams on 233 receptions, 3,031 yards, and 38 touchdowns at Fresno State (2012-2013). Adams will now become entrenched as an indispensable weapon for the Raiders while operating as a high-end WR1 for fantasy managers. He joins a passing attack that also contains Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller, and their presence will deter defensive coordinators from implementing double coverage on Adams. This will allow Adams to utilize his route running acumen in single coverage versus overmatched defenders. Adams' deep-rooted relationship with Carr will also help him thrive in his new environment. This makes him worthy of selection at his current ADPs in both best ball drafts (11/WR4), and dynasty startup leagues (13/WR6).
