Danielle Hunter 2020 Outlook: Fantasy's Top DL No More
5 years agoMinnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter has been an elite fantasy defender for three of the past four seasons. He should still be considered an elite defensive lineman in all 2020 fantasy formats. How elite he is could depend on whether Everson Griffin returns to play across from him this year. Over the past few years, this LSU product has dominated Griffin, Sheldon Richardson, and Linval Joseph to keep offenses somewhat honest. As of right now, the Vikings no longer have any defensive linemen capable of keeping opposing blockers from focusing entirely on Hunter. That should lead to offenses overloading Hunter with chip-blocks and double-teams. While Hunter is talented enough to overcome that type of attention, he could see his stats take a bit of a hit when opponents make him the sole focus of their pass blocking schemes. As a result, the 25-year-old may not finish 2020 as the top-two fantasy defensive lineman that he has been in the past. IDP owners should still draft Hunter as a top-ten fantasy defender in all formats, but consider selecting Joey Bosa and Myles Garrett ahead of him.
