Corey Davis 2022 NFL Player Outlook: A healthy Second Year In New York Might Help The Still-Young Receiver Into The WR2 Realm
2 years agoMost depth charts of the New York Jets receiving corps have wideout Corey Davis as the No. 2 wide receiver of the team, only behind Elijah Moore. With Jamison Crowder in Buffalo and the team featuring a mixture of inexperienced and average veterans, that makes all of the sense, at least until rookie Garrett Wilson can prove his worth or Braxton Berrios forces Davis of that second-highest slot. The only reasonable thing depressing Davis' ADP (170) entering 2022 is the balance this offense has to it, with no receiver clearly above his teammates in terms of skills and talent and the loaded offense when it comes to players at all of the WR/TE/RB positions. Davis got the second-fewest targets among the Jets' primary receivers (59) last year though he scored the second-highest FPPG mark in PPR leagues with 11.7 per game, only behind Elijah Moore's 12.6 figure. The 27-year-old has his calling card in deep routes, and he has one of the top deep-threat games in the NFL to go with an extraordinary Red Zone catch rate when he throws the rock in the hot area. Now a second-year Jet, Davis should have developed a better rapport with second-year quarterback Zach Wilson and, assuming Davis can stay healthy (he appeared in just nine games last year), put up at least an FPPG baseline on par with the one he logged his last time in Tennessee (13.7 fantasy points per game). It's hard to make any solid prediction regarding the Jets' WRs (and I haven't even mentioned rookie Garrett Wilson), but for the low ADP price, Davis could yield a very high ROI in 2022.
