Chuba Hubbard 2022 Player Outlook – Late-Round Flyer With Likely Opportunity
2 years agoCarolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard failed to flash significantly during Christian McCaffrey's injury-riddled season. With the Panthers' addition of D'Onta Foreman, his 2022 fantasy draft has plummeted to the RB75 spot. The 23-year-old averaged 3.6 yards per carry, rushing for 612 yards on 172 attempts and five touchdowns while catching 25 passes for 174 receiving yards and a score over 17 games in 2021. Last season, the stars aligned for Hubbard to produce solid RB2 fantasy numbers, but Ameer Abdullah was brought in to handle much of the passing work. As savvy fantasy managers know, this limited his upside. Now, he'll have to battle Foreman for the RB2 job. Ultimately, we can expect McCaffrey to at least miss some time in 2022, but it's tough to project what the backfield will look like in his absence. The prudent move is probably to grab the cheaper option between Hubbard and Foreman and hope for the best. If Sam Darnold remains the start in Carolina, don't expect either to be a high-end handcuff running back in a projected bottom-of-the-league offense, though.
