Chris Taylor Looks To Build On Breakout Season
7 years agoChris Taylor started the season in Triple-A, but delievered a tremendous season for owners who snatched him off the waiver wire after his call-up. Prior to 2017, Taylor had hit 21 home runs in the minors and only one home run in the majors in 2016. After his 2017 call-up, he hit 21 HR for the Dodgers and stole a team-leading 17 bases. He doesn’t walk much (8.8% in 2017) and strikes out a bit (25% in 2017), but the key to his success has been his BABIP. It stood at .361 last season, aided by his .208 ISO. In short, he puts it were they ain’t and runs like heck. He’s one of the biggest question marks going into the fantasy season, however. On one hand, he’s never shown this kind of success at any level (which is why the Dodgers got him from the Mariners in a trade for Zach Lee, who isn’t even in the majors anymore). But on the other hand, even the expected BABIP regression will line him up for scoring a ton of runs at the top of the vaunted Dodgers lineup. Best of all? He’s eligible at multiple positions including shortstop, second base and outfield. He’s still not a household name yet and can provide a nice boost to your counting stats if drafted in middle to late rounds.
