Chris Godwin 2020 Outlook: Repeat Campaign on Horizon
5 years agoWith Tom Brady in town, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to be running a much tighter ship. Chris Godwin was a beneficiary of an absurd season by Jameis Winston in 2019. Winston led the league in pass attempts, passing yards...and interceptions. A one-of-a-kind 33 touchdown, 30 interception campaign that led the Bucs to giving up on their former first overall selection in 2015. Godwin's breakout fantasy season was partly thanks to Winston's absurd volume, however, his on-field play cannot be ignored. Godwin stepped in to replace DeSean Jackson in the Buccaneers' starting lineup and helped take this offense to another level. His after-the-catch ability was on display all season as he racked up 1333 yards and nine touchdowns on 86 receptions (133 targets) in just 14 games. This would have been a 1500/10 season had he stayed healthy. Although the volume will take a slight hit this season, there is no reason to suspect that Godwin's talent will regress. The Buccaneers hardly added to the passing game aside from a 31-year old Rob Gronkowski who will probably be used as a blocker more than anything. Brady will have all of the time he needs to throw behind an improved OL and it is evident over the years from Wes Welker to Julian Edelman how big a fan he is of the slot. Expect another great season from Godwin and buy around his ADP in all formats.
