7/9:Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer lasted just 3 1/3 innings against the Detroit Tigers on Monday. In his first appearance since June 2, the right-hander allowed three earned runs, six hits and two walks while throwing 78 pitches. Archer had been pitching well prior to landing on the disabled list with an abdominal strain. Over his previous seven starts, he had posted a 2.47 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 43.2 innings. He is expected to return to the mound on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins, a team he has dominated throughout his career (1.95 ERA over 50 innings).--Neil Tardy - RotoBaller
