Chargers Defense 2020 Outlook: Well-Rounded and Deep
5 years agoThe Chargers Defense is seemingly overlooked when discussing the best in the league heading into this season. Tom Telesco has done a fantastic job with signing talented veterans and drafting over the years. His work may finally bring a top-tier defense into fruition. Chris Harris Jr. is a huge addition to cover the slot and secondary wide receivers opposite shut-down perimeter CB Casey Hayward. Premier do-it-all safety Derwin James is healthy and their biggest weakness, linebacker is hopefully covered with first-round selection, Kenneth Murray. Although Murray has his technical warts, he is athletic enough to be coached-up into a very good player. The pass-rush is one of the best in the league with a group of Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Linval Joseph, Uchenna Nwosu, and a second-year Jerry Tillery. Unfortunately, the Chargers have always had talent along the defense but injuries have limited their true potential. With the depth they have going into 2020, it is hard to envision them not being at-worst a top-10 unit. Draft them everywhere.
