Chandler Jones 2020 Outlook: Strong Edge Rusher With All His Eggs In The Sack Basket
5 years agoThere haven't been many better outside linebackers in terms of getting to the quarterback in the last five years than Chandler Jones. The three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro has 72.5 sacks since 2015 and has posted double-digit sack seasons in six of his eight years in the NFL. Jones finished second in the NFL with 19 sacks in 2019, adding 11 tackles for loss, 26 QB hits, a league-high eight forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. The 30-year-old hybrid defensive end/linebacker was a first-round pick of the Patriots back in 2012. Jones' pass-rushing skills off the edge are top-notch, and while the sack totals have been excellent, he loses some luster as a linebacker in IDP leagues because of his pedestrian tackling production. And newcomer Isaiah Simmons could steal some of his thunder rushing the passer. Jones was the second-highest scoring IDP linebacker in 2019, but he'll need to come close to leading the league in sacks again just to stay there.
