CeeDee Lamb 2021 Outlook: Sophomore WR2 Set To Become WR1
4 years agoDo not confuse CeeDee Lamb with the Cowboys' WR1. That job belongs to Amari Cooper. Even before Dak Prescott went down last season, despite Lamb's performance, Cooper was significantly out-producing him. With that being said, the Cowboys drafted Lamb to be their WR1 of the future and 2021 is the next step on that journey. Lamb was the WR35 last season, averaging just 13.2 ppg. Natural progression is baked into Lamb's price this season, but perhaps not enough. Lamb is still being priced as a mid to low WR2. While that may be a product of the abundance of WR talent, that doesn't make it any less of a value. Although it is a small sample size, Lamb averaged 17.1 ppg in his five games played with Prescott. That number puts him on par with D.K. Metcalf, last season's WR9. Prescott is back healthy and the Cowboys project to be one of the league's top offenses. If you recall, Prescott was on pace to shatter the single season passing yards record before breaking his ankle. Lamb is locked in as the Cowboys' WR2 and will be, at worst, second on the team in targets. He also has a full year of experience under his belt. Prescott may push 600 pass attempts. I'm not saying to draft Lamb over Cooper, but I'm not not saying to do it.
