Carlos Hyde 2020 Outlook: Veteran Insurance Policy With No Standalone Value
5 years agoThe Seahawks love to run the football, even if their offensive line doesn't cooperate. With Chris Carson (hip) and Rashaad Penny (knee) both coming off season-ending injuries -- Penny is a PUP candidate to begin the season -- Seattle signed Carlos Hyde as a veteran insurance policy. The 29-year-old is coming off a career year with the Texans (245 carries, 1,070 rushing yards, six touchdowns), but he was signed mainly for depth purposes. Seattle also has second-year back Travis Homer and rookie DeeJay Dallas who can contribute. The former second-round pick of the 49ers in 2014 should be seen mainly as a handcuff for Carson owners. He's unlikely to have any standalone value in Seattle early in the year unless Carson misses time with another injury.
