Carlos Correa Primed For Monster Season
7 years agoHouston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa enjoyed his the best statistical season of his career last season despite playing in only 109 games. He slashed a career high .315/.391/550, slugged 24 home runs and was having an MVP-type season up until a torn ligament in his hand sidelined him for the better part of six weeks in the second half. The sky is the limit for the talented Correa and a full season on the field could make him a top-5 fantasy player in 2018. In the first half of last season, Correa recorded 39 extra base hits (20 home runs) and hit a robust .325 with a slugging percentage of .577. Those numbers played out over a full season could have Correa in position to be the top fantasy choice at his position in 2018. Add that to his .331 batting average in 139 at-bats with runners in scoring position last season and Correa is poised to breakout. The Astros again will be in a position to score a ton of runs and Correa is again slated to hit number three in the lineup. The former number one pick is just beginning to scratch the surface of what he is capable of and he represents excellent fantasy value at the end of the first round.
