Cameron Sutton Signing With Steelers
6 months agoFree-agent cornerback Cameron Sutton is signing an undisclosed deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, according to his agents. Sutton was released by the Detroit Lions on March 21 after a domestic-violence warrant was issued. The 29-year-old defensive back was originally drafted in the third round by Pittsburgh in 2017 out of Tennessee. Sutton spent the first six seasons of his NFL career in the Steel City and racked up a total of 143 solo tackles, two sacks, eight tackles for loss, eight interceptions, 38 passes defended, five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 84 games played (39 starts) before playing in Detroit last year. He had 65 tackles (50 solo) and an interception in 17 regular-season games for the Lions but wasn't particularly effective in coverage. Sutton will give the Steelers some veteran secondary depth in 2024.
