3 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is scheduled for shoulder surgery to repair what is reported to be a partially torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder. If reports are accurate, Newton should be ready in time for training camp. Even though it looks like he'll be ready for the start of the season, the injury and surgery raise questions about Newton's physical style of play. Will Carolina continue to let Newton run the ball as much as he has in the past? Only 33 of Newton's 90 rushing attempts came in the second half of last season, and his fantasy points per game dropped drastically. At a position where viable starters can be found late in fantasy drafts, Newton is looking like a player to avoid early in drafts.--Charlie Kleinheksel
