C.J. Cron Looks To Find A Home In Tampa
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman C.J. Cron has seen his value go up multiple times in the past month. First, he was traded away from a crowded situation with the Angels, then the Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Cron could play "a lot" when asked near the end of February. Cron had a .248 batting average, 16 home runs and 56 RBI for the 2017 season but hit 14 of his home runs and drove in 42 of his runs in the second half. He also saw a huge leap in OPS in the second half, consistently had a solid hard hit ball percentage (in the 30%'s 5 of 6 months), and nearly quadrupled his HR/FB% in the second half. Cron is a decent depth player in AL-only formats or deeper leagues, especially if he performs more often like he did in the second half of 2017 than the first.
