8/13:Washington Nationals All-Star outfield Bryce Harper slipped on the first base bag and injured his left knee running out a groundball Saturday and had to be helped off the field. The injury looked ugly and potentially very serious. The injury came in the first inning after a three-hour rain delay, so the bags were slick, which likely contributed to Harper's injury, unfortunately. Expect the Nats to update Harper's injury later Saturday night or early Sunday morning, but as a fantasy owner, prepare for the worst-case scenario, which would be a disabled list stint and lengthy absence. With plenty of cushion in the division, Washington will likely play it safe with Harper and may elect to hold him out until the playoffs, depending on the severity of the injury. Fortunately for the Nats, Brian Goodwin has been filling in admirably in center field, and Michael Taylor is due back from the DL as soon as next week. Howie Kendrick and Adam Lind could also help contribute in the corner outfield spots until Jayson Werth is healthy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
