Brandon Nimmo Set To Come Off Bench Again
7 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo had a surprisingly nice finish to the 2017 season when he slashed .260/.387/.479 with four home runs, 15 runs scored, and 15 RBI in September. As such, it seemed plausible he had a leg up on fellow outfielder Juan Lagares for a starting role in New York’s 2018 outfield. Now, with the Mets recently resigning outfielder Jay Bruce, both Nimmo and Lagares will come off the bench. While it’s a tough break for Nimmo, given what we’ve seen from him, albeit in a small sample size, it’s tough to believe in him as a fantasy relevant everyday contributor. Entering his age 25 season, though, there’s still plenty of time for the former number 13 overall draft pick to improve. He remains a solid hold in dynasty leagues, but won’t carry much value in redraft leagues in 2017 barring injury.
