Brandon Kintzler 2021 Outlook: Another Solid, Unexciting Season On Deck
4 years agoRelief pitcher Brandon Kintzler, currently a free agent, is likely to continue with his career trajectory in 2021 regardless of what teams he signs with. The Miami Marlins are reportedly interested in re-signing their closer, who saved 12 games last season while posting a 2.22 ERA. The ERA was nice, but a 5.00 FIP and 4.98 xFIP along with a low 13.9% K rate shows that he's a much more effective "real life" pitcher than a fantasy asset. Kintzler will have much more fantasy value if he ends up pitching as a closer than if he is a setup man, but he'll be one of the lower ranked fantasy closers in the league even if he has a ninth inning job all to himself.
