Boston Scott 2021 Outlook: Likely in Competition for Complementary Role
4 years agoBoston Scott played all 16 games for the Eagles last season. He even filled in as the "starter" in four games Miles Sanders didn't play. But in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected RB Kenny Gainwell in the fifth round. He'll likely come in and compete with Scott for a complementary role behind Sanders this season. In fact, pass-catching is one of Gainwell's strong suits, reeling in 51-of-61 targets in his sophomore season at Memphis. Scott may still be involved early in the season, but it might not be long before he's phased out of the offense. Even if Sanders were to battle injuries again this season, we'd likely see a committee of Scott, Gainwell, and Kerryon Johnson, as opposed to the former seeing most of the workload when Sanders was out like he did in 2020. He's nothing more than a deep league stash in 2021.
