Bills Defense 2020 Outlook: Depth Added Throughout Offseason
5 years agoThe Buffalo Bills had a very solid offseason. Not only did they add alpha WR Stefon Diggs on offense, they managed to continue building their true strength, the defense. While losing veteran pass-rusher Lorenzo Alexander will hurt, the defensive line and secondary has been shored up with several free agents. Former Panthers Mario Addison and Vernon Butler were added up front while Josh Norman, who greatly succeeded in McDermott's scheme four years ago, reunites with him and GM Brandon Beane. Quinton Jefferson is another decent depth piece to work with while rookie second rounder A.J. Epenesa could be a versatile chess piece with his size and ability. The biggest edge for the Bills is the potential breakout of sophomore defensive tackle Ed Oliver whose upside is through the roof. Whether he realizes this is up to him but in such a case, the Bills have everything necessary to maintain a top-10 defense and potentially finish as the best in the league. Their pass defense should remain solid with an improvement against the run from average last year to above average in 2020. Target this D/ST wherever available.
