3 years agoFree-agent wide receiver Markus Wheaton has signed with the Chicago Bears. Wheaton played out his rookie contract in Pittsburgh, but despite Martavis Bryant's indefinite suspension and Sammie Coates' inability to make an impact last year, the Steelers decided to let Wheaton walk. The Bears lost Alshon Jeffery to the Eagles earlier today, and they wasted no time filling the roster spot. Wheaton is a far cry from Jeffery at his best, but he should get plenty of opportunity to succeed. The Bears don't have much depth at the position. Kevin White has been injured for most of his two seasons, and Cameron Meredith is still largely an unknown. Don't expect fireworks, but Wheaton could earn a very healthy workload in the Windy City.--Charlie Kleinheksel
