8/11:The A’s are shuffling their outfield around, having recalled recently acquired Boog Powell and relief pitcher Michael Brady. They sent down Jaycob Brugman and Mark Canha to make room. Powell, who was acquired from the Mariners in the Yonder Alonso trade, hits left-handed and is likely going to serve in a platoon role in center field with veteran Rajai Davis. Brugman had been serving in that role, and was hitting .266/.346/.343 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 143 at-bats. It appears the A’s want to see what they have in Powell, who was hitting .340 in Triple-A Tacoma before the trade. He deserves a look in deep formats and AL-only leagues. Canha hit .333 with a home run and a steal in 15 at-bats since being recalled last week, but is being sent down to give the A’s bullpen more depth. He will likely be recalled again in September, if not sooner.--Andy P - RotoBaller
