Andrew Luck 2018 Outlook: Elite Again Or Huge Risk? Time Will Tell
6 years agoHard as it may be to accept, it's tough to tag Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck as a QB1 entering the 2018 season after missing the entire 2017 season. He will come at a major discount, but keep in mind that he has just begun to throw again for the first time in a year-and-a-half.
He has bulked up in the offseason and still has some playmakers at his disposal, so it'll be interesting to see if he's truly good to go for Week 1 or not. In an ideal world, let's say that Luck does come back and he's producing at his normal rate before the injury... Yes, his eighth-round draft stock would be a great value. But, if he comes back and he is just a shell of his prior self then you're left with a big hole at QB. Unfortunately, you could have waited until the later rounds to draft a quarterback who will be more productive than Luck. It's a tightrope to walk across, but if all pans out well for Luck and the Colts then he could very well be a shot worth taking. Just make sure to hedge your bet with a solid backup.
