Andrew Benintendi 2021 Fantasy Outlook: A Buying Opportunity After Injury Plagued 2020
4 years ago2020 was not the year anyone expected for Boston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi. After slashing .266/.343/.431 in 138 games in 2019, the 26-year-old only played in 14 games due to a rib-cage strain. While he has a solid walk rate (21.2%), his strikeout rate (32.7% in 2020) has increased over the past three seasons. Benintendi is a free agent after 2022, but he is currently on the Red Sox's radar to trade. It is unknown how that would affect his play, but the injury will be something to monitor this spring. As of now, he has a place with the Red Sox, but his fantasy stock is down after he slashed just .103/.314/.128 in his 14 games last season. At a current ADP of 226 and just outside the top-50 fantasy outfielders, fantasy managers should consider buying low when it comes to Benintendi, especially if he remains in Boston.
