Alshon Jeffery 2020 Outlook: How Much Is Left?
5 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery hasn't been the top-tier wide receiver the Eagles expected him to be when he came over from Chicago after the 2016 season. Despite that, he has shown flashes of solid big-play upside when he's been on the field. Jeffery has dealt with plenty of injuries throughout his career and isn't even a sure thing to be ready for training camp as he recovers from a Lisfranc injury. The Eagles added a lot to their wide receiver room this offseason through trades and the draft, but the team has stated that they expect Jeffery to still be "a major part of the offense." Since most of the Eagles wide receivers are quick, deep threat type guys, perhaps Jeffery will carve out some kind of goal line role if he can stay healthy. That will give him touchdown upside, but could make him fairly touchdown-dependent, as he'll be unlikely to pile up tons of catches or yards. Still, he can be had for very cheap right now and could prove to be a hidden gem if several things go his way. There are certainly worse choices in the last few rounds of most drafts.
