Alexander Mattison 2021 Outlook: A Top Notch Insurance Policy
4 years agoWe don't have a particularly large sample size of Alexander Mattison playing in games without Dalvin Cook, but we use what we've got. Mattison has started two full games for Cook since being drafted in the third round in 2019. In those two games, Mattison averaged 16.75 ppg against 5.16 ppg in 24 games with Cook active. Mattison is a low RB1 if Cook is out and completely useless when Cook plays. It's that simple. For that reason, Mattison belongs on draft boards as one of the few handcuffs you can be sure will produce if something happens to the starter. He's a worthy RB4/5 to keep on your roster as long as you can, but also someone you should not be afraid to dump if you need the spot and Cook is clearly healthy.
