Alex Collins 2018 Outlook: Draft Stock Skyrocketing, Could Be Overvalued
6 years agoBaltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins wasn't on anyone's radar until Week 3 of the 2017 season when he scampered for 82 yards against the Jags' vaunted defense. It wasn't until Week 8 when he truly caught our collective attention, however, and cemented himself as a fantasy RB2. From that point on, he amassed 795 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns in the final nine games of the season and nearly helped the Ravens earn a Wild Card berth.
On the strength of that second half, Collins is being drafted as a top-20 RB and is creeping into the third and even second round of some RB-heavy drafts. Collins has shown great speed and elusiveness, but it should be noted that Kenneth Dixon could compete for snaps and the Ravens still have a lesser offensive line. It's hard to imagine Collins rushing for a far higher total than last season, so as long as your expectations are tempered on draft day, he should serve as a fine RB2 but not much more.
